Jan 31, 2003 · I don't know about Ublock specifically, but UBlock Origin works. When Safari first opens, you have to re-enable it in Safari Preferences as it gives a warning saying the extension was shut down because it slowed web page rendering.

Dec 25, 2005 · UPDATE: I found out that this is a known problem with uBlock and to some extent uBlock Origin. I also discovered that uBlock is a forked version of uBlock Origin that has been stripped down and made lighter (fewer filters and features). Anyway, I tried removing uBlock and installed uBlock Origin instead, and that seems to have done the trick.

Sep 19, 2019 · uBlock Origin is open source so while I don't know what to look for there are those that do and would find anything shady. So far Firefox is working well with uBlock Origin to do what Safari 12 did. Hopefully Firefox won't follow this $$$$ trend in preventing ad blockers.

Jan 24, 2023 · With noted exceptions, I find uBlock Origin alone can allow features from major, “trusted” sites — not only cookies, but also JS/XHR for features considered either not core for accessing a page’s principal contents or JS code which can break function on a site. By “trusted”, this tends to include servers from google/yt, fb, and amazon.

Jun 30, 2023 · Anyways, uBlock Origin has been able to bypass that popup that blocks video playback most of the time, and the times it hasn't simply viewing the video in incognito mode works just fine. I still hate that they've been pushing this out of seemingly nowhere, though. Heck, I didn't even have uBlock Origin before this all started happening.

Aug 17, 2016 · I have been using Ublock Origin through-out Mojave, but now it is not working anymore. I switched to chrome to keep using uBlock Origin, and at the same time picked up AdGuard for Safari for free, but it is impacting Safari so much that some websites will consume more than 4.6 GB of RAM just by itself.

Oct 13, 2024 · Ublock Origin Lite is indeed the Manifest V3 replacement. It's not as comprehensive as Ublock Origin as you might expect. For example Youtube Ads aren't blocked. I'm assuming there's some other things too. However, it may be good enough for your Mum to browse the web and get certain things out of her way.

Nov 5, 2020 · FWIW I don't think it's a blanket ublock thing, it's specifically people who put the fix to get around ads. They're getting insanely aggressive here though. The ads are incredibly invasive so I'll keep blocking them, if they're going to go this far to tank quality for the user then the site is just going to get visited less.
