@Beastak0s That list only shows companies which had the license at any point in time, despite the caption. As Fred_vdp said, currently, only Warner Bros. Games has the license to publish and support video games with the Lord of the Rings license in any way, shape or form, with the exception of Standing Stone Games and their Lord of the Rings Online game.

The problem with Lord of the Rings games that where developed by EA is the fact that the IP (Intellectual Property) does not actually belong to EA. What happens when a company like EA gets contracted to make games for a movie franchise, is they usually negotiate how many games will be developed and for how long the company would have access to ...

Hello, I am having a similar problem running LOTR: Return of the King. Install discs 1 and 2 went through just fine, but when I insert the play disc, nothing happens.

For the time being the license is at Warner. Which means that EA can't sell or make anything based upon Tolkien's works. Many of us would love to see Battle for Middle Earth series back, but we can't do much, unless Warner is losing their license …

As a LOTR fan this has been the best game to date in this franchise. Why they made War in the North and not an up-scaled version of this game is beyond me...
