My wife has a 2007 Accent with 81,000 miles. I changed the oil every 3,700 miles since new and then about 4 years ago started using Mobil 5w20 as noted as OEM viscosity (5,000 mile intervals).

The lifters in the new lambda (Hyundai's internal designation) V6 engines are solid machined chunks of steel. When (not if) lash wears beyond factory specified clearances, the lifter(s) has/have to be replaced outright. (Shimming is NOT an option in the new Hyundai design unless the factory makes a running engineering alteration later.)

The 1.6 Gamma GDI is for the Accent and the Veloster. It is not going in the Elantra. Hyundai would not share an engine between the Accent and Elantra. Why do you require a GDI engine? The 1.6 GDI is rated at 30/40 city/highway whereas the 1.8 non-GDI is rated at 29/40, hardly a difference worth worrying about.
