While at Mammoth leave the park and go into Gardiner for a burger at Helen's. This old fashioned dive has the biggest and best burgers in the area. There is so much to do and see in Yellowstone.

You didn't mention what time of the year you were thinking of going. It it's not during the winter have you considered buy a cheap tent and camping on the way there and back?

Right now I am looking at leaving the Detroit area and heading to South Dakota via HWY 90. We want to make stops in Badlands, Black Hills, and at Mt. Rushmore for sure. Jan 18, 2016 · There's really only one logical way to get from Cody to Grant Village - that's using US-14 from Cody directly into the east entrance of Yellowstone, then continue around Yellowstone Lake until you get to GV. It's about a 100 mile drive, and I'd give yourself about 3 hours, factoring the tow, terrain, traffic, and potential wildlife.
