Jul 13, 2021 · Presently, every time I want to check something off I have to Google "checkmark", copy the symbol from a 3 rd party website, paste it into a text editor to remove formatting, and then copy and paste it into the program I'm trying to use. (Word has an option to remove formatting, but most other programs don't.)

You can do the ones with non 0-9 hex as well, but you gotta type the letters on the left side without letting go, and depending on what application in GOOD LUCK as it probably has something bound to at least one of those (e.g. alt-a through alt-f). edit: just saw the below answer.

Note, that almost all the ASCII characters use the same keystrokes on Macs and Wintel boxes, but that just the Latin alphabet, Arabic numerals a bit of punctuation and some control codes. Almost everything that you have to jump through hoops to enter is not ASCII. –
