SAN ANTONIO – A Venezuelan gang named Tren de Aragua has been making headlines lately in Texas. Most recently, four members were arrested in a multi-agency drug bust that took place at an apartment complex on San Antonio’s north side on Oct. 5.

Transnational criminal organization Tren de Aragua has been operating in North-Central San Antonio for months, said Police Chief Bill McManus.

Sharpstown community members express their concern after a suspected Venezuelan gang member is believed to have been recruiting middle school students.

“Cova was arrested after a DPS Special Agent assigned to the Houston Texas Anti-Gang Center was notified of a suspected TdA member living in the Houston area in late September,” according to the press release. “The suspect, who was identified as Cova, was scheduled for an asylum hearing in Houston on Oct. 7.”
