Donald Trump is not having the impact outside of the United States that many expected, judging by some key national elections. On Saturday, Australians and Singaporeans followed the lead set by Canada's citizens days earlier in returning to office incumbent parties that had pushed back against the U.

General election voting has closed in Australia's populous eastern states, including the cities of Sydney and Melbourne, with two more hours of voting left on Saturday in Western Australia in what has been a closely fought race.

Anthony Albanese has claimed victory as the first Australian prime minister to win a second consecutive term in 21 years. He successfully tied his opponent to the unpopular policies of President Trump.
