Turkey's pro-Kurdish DEM party said on Thursday that its meeting with President Tayyip Erdogan to discuss a bid to advance a peace process took place in an extremely constructive and hopeful atmosphere.

Officials from a pro-Kurdish party liaising with the jailed leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) said they felt more hopeful over the prospects of a new era of Kurdish-Turkish relations to end a 40-year conflict in Turkey after meeting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday.

The DEM Party delegation included Deputy Speaker of Parliament Sırrı Süreyya Önder and senior lawmaker Pervin Buldan. The key focus of the meeting was exploring a new phase of reconciliation.
