President Donald Trump announced that he’s pausing tariffs on Mexico and Canada after speaking to leaders of both countries on Monday — just hours before the sweeping actions were set to go into effect.

Trump on Monday suspended his threat of 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada at the last minute, agreeing to a 30-day pause in return for concessions on border and crime enforcement with the two neighbouring countries.

President Trump had promised a 25% tariff on Mexico and Canada. The tariffs are on hold for one month. The 10% tariff on China are still scheduled.

Tariffs will be paused for 30 days. But a 10 percent levy on Chinese goods is still scheduled to go into effect.
