Rigathi Gachagua now lies with the Senate after the courts declined to issue orders to stop the ongoing impeachment motion tabled against him. The Senate will hold hearings on October 16th and 17th before voting on the 11 impeachment charges to determine Gachagua’s fate.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has suffered two setbacks at the Senate after the Speaker dismissed two objections raised by his legal team. His counsel Wednesday morning had objected to the appearance of Senior Counsel James Orengo for the National Assembly during the impeachment trial on account of a conflict of interest.
