A seven-year-old boy survived a crash that killed his mother near Auberry, and the child stayed by her side for several hours before he was found.

A 30-year-old woman was killed and a 7-year-old child was injured in an overnight single-vehicle collision on Highway 168 near Prather in eastern Fresno County. The California Highway Patrol reported that a concerned person called 911 on Monday morning to say the woman had failed to arrive home as expected after midnight.
