The Oklahoma State Board of Education is set to vote Tuesday on a proposal that would require parents to report their immigration or citizenship status when enrolling their children in school.

Beginning with the graduating class of 2033, all state students would be required to meet financial education standards to graduate from high school.

The Oklahoma Board of Education approved a measure requiring parents to provide their child’s immigration status when enrolling them in school. The measure passed Tuesday in a 6-0 vote after a brief 20-minute discussion.

The proposed rules, which Oklahoma’s education board was set to vote on Tuesday, are in the early stages and would still need approval from lawmakers and
