At 66-years old and out of coaching for three years, Paul Maineri took over South Carolina last June and made college baseball sound like landscaping. That if you know what your doing, no location or time frame can stop you from turning dirt to turf.

South Carolina baseball started it’s home SEC series against Florida off with a 9-5 loss on Friday night. The game went into the early hours of Saturday morning after a weather delay halted the game early. Although South Carolina’s pitching staff was able to strikeout Florida batters 10 times, the Gators used a big fifth inning to get the win.

Florida continued its resurgent play this weekend at South Carolina as it tries to fight its way back to .500 in the rugged SEC.
