Leading up to the trade, the Heat suspended Butler without pay three times and Butler went public to express his desire to be dealt after the Heat declined to offer him the max contract extension

Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo told reporters that he wasn't "shocked" Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler didn't acknowledge his ex-teammates upon his return to Miami last Tuesday. “I’m not shocked. It is what it is,” Adebayo said, per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.

Even before the game, there were no signs of communication and after the game was over, Butler went straight to the locker room. When Adebayo was asked about the lack of a reunion, Adebayo would say that he was “not shocked” and that he does not “take it personal” according to Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald.
