Tesla stock rose early Thursday as investors wondered what the company—and shares—would be like without CEO Elon Musk at the helm. It wouldn’t be good. Shares of the electric vehicle maker were up 0.6% at $283.

In recent months, Musk has expressed to a confidant that he no longer wants to be CEO of Tesla, that person told the Journal.

Given the state of the company, Musk's return should help boost Tesla's stock. Musk's time at DOGE has deeply hurt Tesla's shareholders. A perception that he was not focused on Tesla's growth, coupled with the hate directed at the company, brought about a massive sell-off.
