Back in February, the 37-year-old was seen grabbing an opposing coach by the neck as his side drew 2-2 with New York City FC - while he also clashed with the referee on that occasion.

Lionel Messi will not play in Inter Miami’s league home match against FC Dallas on Sunday. The Argentine star winger was not in the starting lineup or among the reserves when the club released its roster before the match.

There’s certainly a historical foundation for Messi’s confidence. Argentina holds a commanding record over Mexico in head-to-head soccer matchups, winning 19 of 36 official contests. From World Cups to Copa América and a slew of friendlies, the rivalry may be emotionally charged for fans, but statistically, it’s been one-sided.
