SMR hard drives have become a lot more common in the entry-level HDD sector, and that’s a trend I’m particularly salty about.

The bloom is on solid state drives that are faster and more reliable, use less energy and are quieter than their geriatric brethren -- hard disk drives. But it's way too soon to say goodbye to HDDs.
