Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Max Scherzer has said he hopes to be able to play catch in the next few days following a cortisone injection to treat his sore right thumb.

Max Scherzer received a cortisone injection as treatment for the sore right thumb that ended his Toronto Blue Jays debut after just three innings and 45 pitches last Saturday, per the Associated Press. Manager John Schneider told reporters the goal of the cortisone shot is to reduce inflammation and pain, per Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith.

Max Scherzer is still working his way back from an injury that forced the Blue Jays to put him on the 15-day injured list.
