On May 5, stars from all corners of the globe descended upon the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the 2025 Met Gala. This year’s theme and exhibit, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” explores the influence of Black dandyism in Western fashion and is the Costume Institute’s first ever show to feature only designers of color.

Ms. Sawai worked with the stylist Karla Welch on the suit designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, which she paired with a Cartier watch. In the past year, both Cartier and Dior announced that Ms. Sawai would be an ambassador for the brands.
