The story was adapted in the 2016 British film The Exorcism Of Anna Ecklund, which we doubt even the Ritual filmmakers saw.

The Ritual is inspired by the 1935 book Begone Satan!, which has been at the center of faith-based debate for nearly a century. Midell helmed the movie from a script he co-wrote with Enrico Natale.
