“With the cold air in place, any accumulating snow may cause significant impacts on roadways. Temperatures, meanwhile, continue to be well-below normal thru the period, barely getting above 32 degrees over much of the (forecast) area today,” the forecast said.

Josh Stein declared a statewide state of emergency ahead of a winter storm that's expected to bring the first measurable snowfall to Charlotte in three years, warning residents of freezing temperatures and dangerous travel conditions.

A winter storm will bring snow and potential travel disruptions for areas near and south and east of I-85 Tuesday.
