Ex-Atlanta Braves center fielder Andruw Jones missed the cut for Cooperstown on Jan. 21, but a closer who pitched his final season in Atlanta will be part of the 2025 Hall of Fame class.
“For now, it appears that the Braves will go into 2025 with Orlando Arcia as their shortstop,” Kelly wrote. “While Arcia is a pretty solid defender, the former All-Star posted an underwhelming .625 OPS in 2024. Arcia can play his way out of the Braves being in the market for someone like Bichette, but he has his work cut out.”
So far, GM Alex Anthopoulos has kept costs low while barely touching the roster. Anthopoulos’ gamble is based on the returns of Ronald Acuna Jr., Austin Riley and Spencer Strider carrying the Braves over the hump in 2025.
At the very least, there will be a former Brave heading to the Hall of Fame. Closer Billy Wagner spent his final season in Atlanta in 2010. He’s certainly going in as an Astros but the Braves could choose to include him in the upcoming festivities because of they’ll be included on his plaque.
