Perhaps the biggest controversy of the Nintendo Switch 2 argument is the revelation that Nintendo's flagship games will retail for $80 RRP. That's a huge mark up from the $70 standard today, and will push games over $100 in some territories due to currency conversions, tariffs, and whatever else.
The Switch 2 won’t be joining the Xbox and PlayStation consoles with its own system-wide achievements, Nintendo confirmed to Polygon in a recent interview. When we asked vice president of player and product experience Bill Trinen if we can expect achievements, he gave a pretty clear answer: “Nope.”
There was no question the Xbox Series X was the more powerful console compared to the Switch, but things have changed with the Switch 2.
As you can see, it's mentioned that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Street Fighter 6 "shows a higher resolution", and it certainly seems at first glance like it's the better-looking edition compared to what we get on Xbox Series S.
Between a higher price, a challenging economy in which consumers are struggling to afford everyday items let alone game consoles and more competition, the Switch 2 arrives at an unusually difficult time.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is here and its price has been revealed at $450. How does that compare to previous Nintendo consoles at launch though?
The Switch 2 has ten times the graphics performance of the original Switch and uses dedicated ray-tracing (RT) Cores to enhance lighting and reflections in-game. It also uses Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) through Nvidia G-Sync to reduce screen tearing during gameplay and deliver smoother performance.
The price of the Nintendo Switch 2 and the hardware’s early exclusives will likely usher in a far more expensive era for console gaming.
