Val Kilmer made his last public appearance with his daughter Mercedes at the annual Thespians Go Hollywood Gala in Los Angeles in 2019. The actor died at the age of 65 on April 1, 2025.

Kilmer was close to his daughter and son, Jack, 29. Despite splitting with Whalley after seven years of marriage in 1995, the “Batman” star remained a constant in his children’s lives. “I can’t be a responsible parent and only be there three or four months a year,” Kilmer told Vanity Fair in 2012.

Val Kilmer leaves behind two kids, Mercedes and Jack. They are his children with his only wife, actress Joanne Whalley, whom he divorced in 1996. Mercedes Kilmer announced her father's death. Kilmer died at age 65 on April 1 of pneumonia,
