An elderly couple were killed Wednesday morning in an early morning house fire in southeastern Denver’s Washington Virginia Vale neighborhood, fire officials said.

When they arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the home. Two victims were rescued from the home, and a short time later, crews confirmed they did not survive.
