Audi has an "enormous" task on its hands to turn its Sauber team into Formula 1 winners, says boss Mattia Binotto.

Audi F1 CEO Mattia Binotto admits that the team’s entrance into Formula One in 2026 will be like “climbing Everest” after a torrid 2024 campaign. Sauber, which will officially become Audi in 2026, are the only team yet to score a point this season with Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu in their cars.

The new Audi boss emphasized that two options are being considered for the team: "There are two main options – on the one hand, experience to put us on the growth path, and on the other hand, a young, talented driver who can accompany us on the way to the top."

Former Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto has acknowledged the immense challenge ahead as he embarks on a new journey with Audi, describing the task of winning a Formula 1 world championship with the up-and-coming constructor as akin to climbing Mount Everest.
