Alan Alda approves of Netflix’s new TV series reboot of “The Four Seasons,” which is inspired by his 1981 classic movie of the same name.

The eight-episode TV adaptation from Tina Fey and fellow “30 Rock” alumni Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield is deeply confused about its intentions, retaining most of the movie’s details (so much so that it feels like the equivalent of cinematic karaoke) while also making changes that fail to deepen the narrative.

The new series takes the original film's characters, plot, and even some scenes and jokes ... but it also brings its own major changes.
