Friends, relatives, coworkers, and neighbors are opening their homes across Southern California as the second week of January begins, offering shelter, and comfort, to the evacuees who've had to flee their homes in the face of fire.

The Pacific Edge Hotel is among a handful of hotels offering room discounts for fire victims. A handful of South Orange County hotels have offered support to displaced residents impacted by the five Los Angeles area fires that have destroyed hundreds of homes in the region.

State law prohibits businesses from boosting prices on hotels by more than 10% for 30 days after a local or state agency has declared an emergency.

The Hotel Association of Los Angeles has a dynamic list of hotels with rooms available, including discounts for wildfire evacuees.
