Ferrari, which will present its first EV in October, showcased the two new plug-in hybrid models at its Maranello headquarters, in northern Italy. They are based on the 2021 Ferrari 296, a car now approaching the end of its life cycle.

Ferrari's hottest V6 supercar in production just got even hotter. The 296 GTB/GTS (hardtop and open-top, respectively) now come in dedicated hardcore versions—the 296 Speciale and Speciale A.

Ferrari has officially unveiled the 296 Speciale, a sharper, lighter and more electrifying evolution of the 296 GTB. Positioned as the most exhilarating berlinetta in the brand’s production range, the 296 Speciale delivers an impressive 880 cv (868 hp) from its hybrid V6 powertrain — 50 cv more than the GTB — thanks to an uprated engine and enhanced electric motor with an “extra boost” function.
