The Dallas Stars lost to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday to continue their Stanley Cup Playoffs series. Despite a dominant game from Roope Hintz and Mikko Rantanen, Dallas could not close out the series.

While the box score reads that the game’s deciding goal was scored by Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon, it actually pinballed off a few members of the Stars before finding its way past Jake Oettinger and into the Dallas net. The own-goal gave the Avalanche a 5-4 lead in a game they’d win 7-4 to force a winner-take-all Game 7 in Dallas on Saturday.

The Dallas Stars entered the third period on Thursday night, 20 minutes away from eliminating the Colorado Avalanche, holding on to a 4-3 lead. There were so many encouraging things to talk about as the night went along.
