Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to Odisha’s economic aspirations, Vedanta Limited on Friday has announced a Rs 1 lakh crore investment aimed at transforming the state’s industrial

Metal and mining major Vedanta on Friday announced an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in Odisha to set up an alumina refinery and an aluminium plant in the state. The Anil Agarwal-led group has already invested Rs 1 lakh crore across assets in the state.

The investment, the largest ever into Odisha, will be directed towards establishing a 6 million tons per annum alumina refinery and a 3 million tons aluminium plant, Vedanta said

This massive investment will focus on producing green aluminium, powered by renewable energy, and is expected to create 2 lakh new jobs across the state.

Vedanta: The Anil Agarwal-led firm has already invested Rs 1 lakh crore in assets in the state. According to a statement by Vedanta, the new investment would be used to build a 6 million tonne per year (MTPA) alumina refinery and a 3MTPA green aluminium facility.
