Birmingham Mayor is already heating up as incumbent Randall Woodfin launches an offense against his earliest critic and challenger. Activity is ramping up, even though Woodfin has not formally announced his run for a third term - at least not in the traditional sense.

Mayor Randall Woodfin joined the Birmingham Crime Commission to address the city's rising violence Monday morning. It comes as the city sees a deadly start to the new year -- with already two homicides in Birmingham.
