RTX Corporation, the defense contractor formerly known as Raytheon, has agreed to pay the U.S. government $252 million to resolve criminal charges alleging it paid bribes to secure contracts with Qatar,

RTX agreed on Wednesday to pay about $950 million to resolve federal charges it defrauded the U.S. Department of Defense into overpaying for defense systems and bribed an official in Qatar to secure business from the Middle East country's air force.

The settlement resolves a federal probe that was opened after a lawsuit in California accused the defense contractor of funneling $1.9 million in bribes to a brother of Qatar’s emir.
