The couple’s prior European home, Frogmore Cottage, was given to them by Queen Elizabeth II as a wedding present. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex renovated Frogmore to the tune of $3 million, a sum at first paid for by the British taxpayer through the Sovereign Grant and later reimbursed by the royals.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly found a new European home in Portugal one year after being evicted from Frogmore Cottage. According to a report, the Sussexes now own a property in the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club located in the small town of Melides.

Prince William and former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern had a giggly moment together during the ceremony in which he made her a dame. Ardern has been working with William as a trustee of his Earthshot Prize, which awards $1 million grants to scale up projects acting to repair, maintain and preserve the environment.

Ardern said it was “particularly special” to receive the honor on Oct. 16 from Prince William, whom she works with in support of his Earthshot Prize initiative
