Designed to replace the current Mail and Calendar apps, the new Outlook can only be removed after it's been installed.

The good news is that the February update which brings the new Outlook doesn't strip out the old version of the app, so you can still use that.

Microsoft will force install the new Outlook email client on Windows 10 systems starting with next month's security update.

Microsoft will start automatically installing its new Outlook email app on Windows 10 devices. It's already pre-installed on most Windows 11 PCs and rolled out to some existing Windows 11 systems.

It shouldn’t come as a shock given what we’ve seen before — but it likely will. A genuine hacking disaster is heading for Gmail, Apple Mail, Outlook and other email users. But thanks to a new security report, you will at least know what to look out for. Just make sure you don’t fall victim to this, making a nightmare situation even worse.

Microsoft announced last year that it would be retiring the Windows Mail & Calendar apps in favor of the new Outlook at the end of 2024. As of January 1, these apps are no longer functional and will refuse to send or receive any more emails.
