Williams was acquired by the Lakers from the Hornets at the trade deadline for Dalton Knecht. Then, in a strange turn of events, the trade was rescinded due to a failed physical by the Lakers on Williams.

Earlier this season, the Los Angeles Lakers agreed to send former Tennessee Vols guard Dalton Knecht to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for center Mark Williams. The deal, however, was rescinded after questions popped up about Williams' longterm health.
