Bank of America separately reported its latest earnings on Tuesday, and in keeping with theme it beat analyst forecasts. Although its profit in the third quarter fell more than 10 percent from the same period last year, the decline was not as steep as expected, bolstered by a jump in trading revenue and investment-banking fees.

Goldman Sachs reported sharply higher third-quarter earnings, a sign that lower interest rates, a stable economy and the bank’s work refocusing on Wall Street are paying off. Profit at Goldman rose 45% to $2.

Bank of America, Goldman Sachs and Citigroup will be the next big banks to report results on Tuesday. They follow JPMorgan and Wells Fargo, whose earnings last week were well received by Wall Street.
