The Detroit Lions have opened up a quarterback battle for the number two spot and Tennessee's Hendon Hooker is battling.

Detroit's 2025 slate will be a grind, with 11 games against teams that made the playoffs last season. The team will play eight home games and nine on the road, and will be battle-tested throughout the year for what it hopes is another postseason run.

The Packers haven't opened the season against the Lions since 2005 and haven't opened the season at home against them since 2001. The Lions have won six of the seven last meetings between the teams, including both games in 2024 (24-14 at home in Week 9 and 34-31 in Detroit in Week 13).
