Bears coaches have been allowed on the field while veterans perform drills as part of their offseason program the past few weeks. But Friday’s rookie minicamp was the first time Bears players, no matter the age, were allowed to line up in formation and run a play — and the first time their head coach could blow it dead.

It's not exactly the first day of school for Ben Johnson. That comes with training camp later this summer. But Friday was a chance for the Chicago Bears' coaching staff to get back on the field with rookie minicamp.
