Eight players tallied goals for BC, including Ryan Leonard’s NCAA best 23rd, while goalie Jacob Fowler recorded 28 saves.

BC has the longest drought of the four teams competing in this internationally acclaimed but uniquely provincial Boston hockey festival.

The No. 1 Boston College Eagles (19-4-1, 12-3-1 HE) men’s hockey team starts its run in the 2025 Beanpot as it takes on the Northeastern Huskies (9-12-3, 4-9-3 HE) in the semifinals on Monday night at TD Garden in Boston.

The Eagles have their sights set on getting back to the national championship game after coming one win short last season. Led by future NHLers Ryan Leonard and Gabe Perreault, BC is also trying to advance to the Beanpot final for the first time since losing to Northeastern in 2019.

The Eagles will take on the Northeastern Huskies — the defending Beanpot champions — in the first round on Monday night. The Eagles have already taken on the Huskies earlier this season, beating them 3-0 at home before falling 4-2 to them at Matthews Arena.

In total, seven Hockey East teams were in the rankings this week. Joining Boston College and Maine is Providence at No. 7, Boston University at No. 8, UMass Lowell at No. 10, UConn at No. 11, and UMass at No. 18.

Monday night is the start of the 72nd Beanpot Tournament in Boston, when BC will take on Northeastern and NU will play Harvard at TD Garden. Northeastern has won two straight and five of the last six.
