A winter weather advisory will remain in effect for all of north Alabama until 10 a.m. The National Weather Service in Huntsville said black ice will be possible on roads until temperatures rise above freezing. The weather service thinks that most spots in north Alabama will inch above 32 degrees between noon and 3 p.m. today.

Black ice is a thin layer that forms on surfaces such as roads, sidewalks and driveways when temperatures are 30 degrees or lower.

Road conditions will worsen Thursday night as rain, sleet and snow freeze over in North Texas. By Friday morning, ice will make travel hazardous, especially on untreated side roads.
