Authorities in Indian-controlled Kashmir have temporarily shut more than half of tourist resorts in the scenic Himalayan region following a deadly attack on tourists.

Over half of the tourist destinations in India's insurgency-torn Kashmir region were closed to the public from Tuesday, according to a government order reviewed by Reuters, in a move to tighten security after last week's attack on holiday-makers.

Authorities say measures are reviewed daily, and tourists are urged to check official updates before travel. The Army, meanwhile, on Tuesday, said that the Pakistan Army continued to initiate unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara, Baramulla, and Akhnoor sectors.
