The TEA told the state it could take over managing the school district or close one school that has failed five consecutive years.

Complicating matters is that the state rating comes two years delayed because of lawsuits — and Fort Worth officials already closed the failing campus.

This is the fifth consecutive “unacceptable” rating in the district, according to the Texas Education Agency. The TEA said 77 campuses were rated a “D” or “F” in its latest evaluation.
