Around 85 per cent of the pending Takata recalls are for vehicles imported by traders or individuals outside the official Toyota network – so-called ‘grey imports’.

The north has “no time to waste” over the issue of faulty airbags manufactured by Japanese company Takata, Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Mechanical Engineers chairman Ayer Yarkiner said on Friday.

The cars are already under recall for having defective Takata airbags, but they remain unrepaired, forcing the automaker to issue the order to emphasize the seriousness of fixing the issue.
