After last year’s tease of Metroid Prime 4 and the introduction of its ‘Beyond’ suffix along with a confirmed launch year of 2025, it would seem logical that the game would get revealed as part of a Switch 2 deep dive, especially as a way to show off the performance of the new hardware.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild marked a strong start to the Switch's life and redefined a genre, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond could follow that same path.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was showcased in the latest Direct presentation, which also detailed the new Virtual Game Card scheme for Switch and Switch 2. We'll be finding out much more about the Switch 2 next week during the big Direct showcase on 2nd April.

Nintendo has just given us our best look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond so far, and even though it looks absolutely lush, we're still staring at a 2025 placeholder date.
