Law enforcement across Hillsborough County, including the city of Tampa, arrested nearly two dozen people on DUI charges on New Year's Eve, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. - In a concerted effort to keep roads safe during the New Year's Eve celebrations, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office joined forces with the Tampa Police Department and Florida Highway Patrol to conduct a multi-agency operation targeting impaired drivers.

A Hillsborough County deputy has been arrested for battery, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office announced Sunday.

Nearly 1,000 citations were issued and dozens were arrested during Nevada Highway Patrol’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” statewide operation.

During a New Year’s Eve operation, 23 drivers were arrested for DUI in Hillsborough County, the sheriff’s office said.
