Boston Celtics GM Brad Stevens tried to trade for Kevin Durant.It's been reported on before by ESPN's Shams Charania, but Charania revisited the trade offer on Wednesday during a new episode of The Pat McAfee Show.

The Boston Celtics were in a weird place in the summer of 2022. They had just come off a disappointing NBA Finals loss to the Golden State Warriors. After taking a 2-1 series lead, the Celtics dropped the next three games as they watched Stephen Curry secure his legacy with his first Finals MVP.

Durant joined the Golden State Warriors instead. Three years, two NBA championships and one dust-up later, Durant successfully recruited Kyrie Irving from the Celtics to the Brooklyn Nets in 2019 free agency. There ended Boston's dream of ever landing Durant in green. Or so we thought.
