A king vulture chick hatched at the Bronx Zoo this year isbeingg hand fed by a puppet. King vultures are native to Mexico, northern Argentina and Uruguay.

The Bronx Zoo in New York is using a specially designed hand puppet to feed its new king vulture chick, which is intended to prevent the baby bird from becoming too dependent on humans.

A king vulture chick is being nursed by employees of the Bronx Zoo, though it will hopefully never know it. The chick, at risk of identifying with its human handlers, is being fed by a black-gloved human hand topped with a puppet handmade by zoo artists to resemble an adult king vulture,
