The PWHL is heading west by selecting Vancouver as its first expansion franchise as part of the six-team league’s objective to broaden its reach across North America.

The Vancouver Griffins played in the National Women's Hockey League from 2000 to 2003. The owner of the short-lived franchise is glad to hear that pro women's hockey is returning to the city.
