The session, which left nine players hospitalized, was run by a person who lacked credentials, a review commissioned by the university found.

An independent review says a third-party Navy SEAL instructor who led a strenuous training session that led to the hospitalization of lacrosse players at Tufts University appeared to lack credentials to supervise group exercise.

The university will change its approval process for team trainings, among other recommended remedies, after the group workout that left lacrosse players hospitalized in September.

The workout led to 24 players being diagnosed with a condition commonly known as “rhabdo” that’s associated with overtraining and can be life threatening.
